What Makes the Trial Experience So Different
Many brides-to-be come to Windy City Glam after trying other artists—often feeling unsure, underwhelmed, or like their vision just wasn’t understood.
Then they have a trial with our team. And almost every time, we hear:
“I wish I found you sooner.”
Here’s why so many brides feel confident booking with us after just one trial:

1. Preparation Makes All the Difference
The most successful bridal trials begin with a little prep.
Brides who take the time to gather inspiration and reflect on what they want often have a much smoother and more productive experience. We recommend:
- Creating a folder or Pinterest board of makeup and hairstyle inspiration
- Bringing photos from past events or previous trials—especially ones that didn’t work, with notes on why
- Sharing a photo of your usual makeup look so we understand your comfort level
It’s also important to arrive with a clean, well-prepped canvas:
- Exfoliate and moisturise your face and lips
- Groom brows for a cleaner makeup application
- Come with clean or one-day-old hair
- Bring any clip-in hair extensions or bridal accessories you plan to use
These small steps help ensure the trial is tailored to you from the start.
2. Clear, Thoughtful Questions
During the trial, our artists don’t just apply makeup or style hair—they ask intentional questions to understand your vision fully.
We’ll review the reference images you bring and ask:
- What do you like about this look?
- Are there any features you want us to recreate?
- Are there any details or techniques you’d prefer to avoid?
Understanding what you like (and what you don’t) helps us deliver results that feel authentic to you.
3. Active Listening Is a Priority
We believe great service starts with listening.
At every trial, our artists take the time to listen closely, take notes, and repeat back what they’ve heard to ensure everything is understood. It’s not just about executing a look—it’s about collaboration, clarity, and comfort.
4. Realistic, Honest Guidance
Bridal beauty is about enhancing your features while also ensuring your look translates well in photos and lasts throughout the day. That’s why we always provide honest, professional advice.
A few key things we share with every bride:
- Makeup usually looks softer in photos. The “natural” bridal looks seen online often involve full-coverage techniques to ensure the face doesn’t appear washed out on camera.
- Voluminous hairstyles usually require extensions. Many Pinterest-inspired looks rely on clip-in extensions for added length and volume.
If you’re planning to wear extensions, here’s what to know:
- Use 100% human hair for the best blend and heat-styling compatibility
- Match the colour to your current or highlighted hair
- Bring them to your trial so we can integrate them properly into your style
5. Feedback Is Always Welcome
We encourage open, honest feedback during the trial. Our team is happy to make adjustments until you’re completely happy with the result.
You’ll often hear us say:
“If there’s anything you’d like to tweak, now’s the time—we’re here to get it just right.”
This same collaborative approach extends to your bridal party on the wedding day, ensuring consistency and confidence for everyone.
